The Ritual:
Vernal or Spring Equinox, the Rites of Spring, Lady Day, Alban Eiler and Bacchanalia.  Ostara marks the day when night and day are equal and balanced. The Sun God’s strength increases. The Maiden celebrates her vitality. Life begins anew at this time. This is a time to plant the seeds of our flower, herb and vegetable gardens. Ostara calls to us with a simple question: what is the seed you will plant for this time of quickening? How will you nourish the soil of your life for a fruitful harvest? There is power in the emerging sprig, the twisting vine, and the budding bush. Something is growing. Will you participate in the cultivation of your life?

We will be at the “small shelter” which is white and located near the carousel:

The Firefly Marketplace:
Help us be sustainable in 2017! This Ostara we will have a table of books and handmade candles available for sale to help us cover the cost of our park reservation for the event. Our handmade herbal spell candles are very popular and our limited stock usually sells out each year. Thanks in advance for your support! Our Ostara marketplace is typically our biggest, providing the funds for us to rent the space so that we can continue to host these wonderful events for you for free.

This event is children and family friendly!

There are MANY entrances to the lake and it is a massive area. The easiest way to find us is to type “Lake Accotink Parking” into your maps app (either Apple Maps or Google Maps both work great for this). That will lead you directly to the section we’re in. This is the main “gathering area” of the park where the paddle boats, carousel, and concession stands are. If parking is full there, there is extra parking that you’ll notice on your way in that’s just a short little walk or roll from our site.
